Still thankful... working on not being frustrated! :)

Before I update - I must vent one thing... Learning that stuff and things aren't important is nothing compared to being nice to an insurance person!  I have not met one neighborly person yet - you know the commercial.... like a good neighbor, state farm is there!  Not so much what is going on.  And I get everyone is stressed a bit right now - but I had 7 separate conversations with State Farm insurance reps on tuesday and none of them matched on their answers to my questions or suggestions on how to move forward.

Anyway - we have so much to do - we have taken pictures of all the damage - we have to list every item that was damaged, where we bought it, how much we paid, how much it would cost today, and how long I have had it.  to put this into perspective a bit - the only rooms with out water damage were 1/2 the kitchen, laundry room, office we think, and entry way.  All living room and bedroom furniture and most all in those rooms is "unlivable" that is what the insurance people call it!

We have to find temp housing and I found out today the closest ones they have to offer are in Katy - not so much going to work.  Kyle still averages about 4 visits a week - in fact this week - we still will make 3 visits and we are getting that in the last 2 days of the week and we cancelled two due to hurricane Ike.

So for now we are at the parent's casa - moving much of our salvageable stuff to storage.  We met with a state farm person late today and she was really nice!  Not sure if we will agree on what is "damaged"or not but she was really nice and that was refreshing.

Now that I am done complaining.... (and I do feel better!)

Kyle heads to Dr. Hitner tomorrow to have his eye checked.  We also go to the high risk pedi tomorrow for a check up.

I can't bellieve those pics-so frustrating. Well, Katy would be so blessed to have you guys. I live in Katy, and I don't know where Kyle's appts are, but it sure doesnt take very long to get to the Med Ctr from here. The Westpark Tollway is wonderful! If you consider Katy, I would love to be a resource for ya'll. We'll be praying for complete restoration-how about better than new!?! Thank goodness God is SO faithful.
Does your hub ever need addt'l playing gigs? We have a church out here and we sometimes need a worship leader....maybe some extra restoration cash :)?

Those pictures are crazy. I'm just so glad you guys were with your parents and not home during the storm. I'll be praying for answers and that God will direct you and open up doors during this time.

A friend of mine wrote this on her blog. Just wanted to pass it along as an encouragement from the scriptures. Glad that you all are ok.

...It is easy to question God when we see the devastion that nature brings upon man. I remember when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. As image after heartbreaking image scrolled on the television screen, I could hear that voice deep within cry out why? How can we show people your love when this is what they see and face? Once more I find myself asking the same questions. When I see the once beautiful coastline scattered with debris that was once someone's home where they slept and dreamed their dreams, I am drawn back to the scriptures that gave me hope after Katrina. Now it gives me hope once more.

"The waters saw you , O God,
the waters saw you and writhed;
the very depths convulsed.
The clouds poured down water,
the skies resounded with
thunder;
your arrows flashed back and forth.
Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind,
your lightning lit up the world;
the earth trembled and
quaked.
Your path led through the sea,
your way through the mighty
waters,
though your footprints were not seen"
Psalm 77:16-19
God is good. God is sovereign. Pray that the footprints we are not seeing today will lead many to eternity.

Hi! I've been following your story from the beginning with my co-workers in Madisonville...I saw the damage to your house. It's very upsetting. My fiance, Luke owns a roofing company and if you do not have someone currently to dry it in, he has offered to do it for free..the materials he will us last for 6 months to a year. The dry in will at least close in the house until you can get things worked out with your insurance company, and he can also help you with that part of it.
His # is 979-218-3662 Lone Star Roof Systems.
Please call, we were blessed to not have damage, but we would like to help out those who did.

Oh Kelly, I'm so very sorry! I know it's just stuff but it's still traumatic because it was your stuff and it adds so much stress to deal with. My prayers are with you all and I'm so glad you are all safe. Please let me know if there is anything we can do. My parents have a very nice double wide in Carlos they use for guests and visitors that is not occupied but that's probably not any closer than Katy but you would be welcome to stay there at no cost if you all needed. My parents lost a home to natural disaster in 1999 so they know what it's like and it's tuff.

Hang in there!

Wow girl - I can't believe your poor house. I am glad your mom and dad are close by to help out. Good luck w/ the insurance adjuster, ours comes Sunday - at 8am??? You know if you need us for anything or to store anything - whatever just say the word! And you are allowed to be frustrated, even though you are thankful, blessed, etc. You can mad too! :)

All I have to say is that you are handling this with a TON more grace and understanding than I would! I lost a place in a hurricane years ago and it flat out sucked, and mind you, I didn't have 3 kids to deal with let alone one that has appointments etc. SO, first of all, I am proud of you for being a pillar right now!!! All that said, I will be praying for you guys and for each day, hour, minute. I am SO SORRY!!! Love to you sweet Kelly!

Our Story

This story begins with 5 people. John, Kelly, Jadon, Jack, and Kyle (he is only 23 weeks old... and he is still safely tucked away in his mommy's belly) In an hour's time Kyle made his way into the world. 1 pound, 3 ounces- 11 and a half inches long. This family will never be the same. This child is a warrior. He has the spirit of a Lion, and more courage than a whole pride. He is fierce, and fearless- and he is teaching us to fear the Lord- and to believe that God is in our midst and healing even now. Join us as pray, as we praise, and as we journey through this life as lovers of God and all His glory.
